An end of Key Stage target level is given to the students early on and they work towards achieving this over the next three years.
Projects are designed to develop the student's skills and understanding in a variety of areas including research, knowledge of artists, art movements and cultures, analysis, development of ideas, exploration of media and creative and original responses.
Three projects are usually taught in year 7, covering 2D work, print making and 3D art. Projects in Years 8 and 9 address similar skills but at a progressively higher level.
Developing ideas through investigations informed by contextual and other sources demonstrating analytical and cultural understanding.
Refining ideas through experimenting and selecting appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes.
Recording ideas, observations and insights relevant to their intentions in visual and/or other forms.
Presenting a personal, informed and meaningful response demonstrating critical and analytical understanding, realising intentions and where appropriate, making connections between visual, written, oral and other elements.
